MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
An exciting month of discovery is ahead, so pack your bags—or at least step outside your door. The Sun is in Taurus, your worldly ninth house, until May 20th. Beyond the perimeter of your comfort zone, new people, experiences and ideologies await. Don’t limit yourself to the same-old, same-old.

With structured Saturn retrograde (backward) in Virgo until May 31st, you may be tempted regress into old habits or self-protective vices. Push yourself beyond that, Virgo. You’re in the final stretch of an important identity makeover. Are you defining yourself based on the past, or reinventing yourself on a clean canvas? Question every assumption. The future is unscripted and yours to author now.

On the 20th, the Sun enters Gemini, your tenth house of career and success. This is a productive cycle, a time to put your grand ideas in front of the influencers and key decision-makers. You love a good plan, so set your visions to a concrete long-term structure. As the saying goes, luck is where preparation meets opportunity. If you can envision your dream unfolding step-by-step, it will be a breeze to articulate. At the May 27th full moon, domestic matters take the stage. Your mother or a female relative could need your attention. A move or a real estate deal is also possible.

LOVE & ROMANCE:
Although you still need extra personal space this month, Venus in Gemini has you thinking long term. For you, relationships are serious business, and have never been an area you take lightly. In May, you’re interested in the future—where things are going, whether your significant other shares your values, where you’ll be in ten years. A modicum of planning brings peace, but not if it destroys your ability to enjoy the moment. Seriously, Virgo—it’s too much pressure, and you can’t control the future.

Some of this anxiety stems from Saturn’s retrograde trip through Virgo. Saturn is the challenger planet, and it was in your sign from September 2007-October 2009. It’s making a final visit between now and July, testing your self-reliance. With Saturn in a low-power retrograde station until May 31st, you may be feeling insecure, leaning too heavily on others for emotional stability and reassurance. Other times, you might be feeling embarrassingly needy, but too proud to ask for help. You could also beat yourself up for past “mistakes.” Sure, there could be amends to make, but most people willingly forgive if you authentically apologize. Get out of your head and pick up the phone.

Virgo, it’s time to love yourself unconditionally, for once and for all. You don’t have to be perfect to be loveable. Tattoo that on your forehead if you must. When Venus moves into Cancer on the 21st, you’ll lighten up—much to the relief of your beloved. Get out to some parties together, enjoy time with mutual friends, do something outdoorsy as a couple. Romance is sparked by good old-fashioned fun in a casual setting. If you’re single, don’t be surprised if the Memorial Day barbecue grill isn’t the only thing sizzling that weekend. With radical Uranus beginning an eight-year trip through your intimacy sector on May 27th, you could find love in the most unexpected ways.

MONEY & CAREER:
May brings your hard work to a powerful peak, helping you harvest the fruit of your diligent efforts. However, you may need to wait until the second half of the month before you reap. Until May 11th, your ruler Mercury is retrograde in your expansive ninth house. Ambitious plans, especially entrepreneurial ones, are best launched at the May 13th Taurus new moon. When Saturn goes direct (forward) on May 31st, you get another surge of confidence.

If you’ve been walking a path that’s not true to your heart, Saturn makes it impossible to take another step. Get in touch with your truth, rather than choosing a career to please others, particularly your father. As a child, you somehow believed that you had to “succeed” to win your father’s love. Reality check: you made that up. No matter how much your dad expressed his affection and approval—whether he was critical, completely absent or totally devoted—your life is your own. Each soul has a mission on this planet. Although your parents gave you life, you don’t have to sacrifice an ounce of happiness to show your appreciation.

Later this month, your values around money come further into question. On May 27th, Uranus throws a lightning bolt in your eighth house of wealth and joint property. You’re inspired to make a difference with your dollars—on a global scale. You don’t want to amass wealth just for your own security; you want to give back. Great, Virgo! Envision yourself with more than you could ever possibly spend, and what you’d be doing. Would you be building homes in a poor rural town? Helping villages overseas pump in clean water? Fighting for women’s rights? Truth is you don’t have to be wealthy to change the world. Involve yourself in a cause, even if you just give a small amount through an online donation.

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
Slow down, Virgo! Accident-prone Mars is in your foggy-headed twelfth house, making you absent-minded and klutzy. You can easily feel overwhelmed during this cycle, especially with all the odds and ends you’re taking care of now. While you may need to burn some midnight oil, you can still break for power naps, healthy snacks or a ten-minute massage.

Insomnia is a possible side effect of Mars, so pace yourself. Turn off electronic devices a couple hours before bedtime and read a book. Although you may think you need to pull that all-nighter, you’ll be far more productive when you’re well-rested. On June 7th, Mars will move into Virgo, rebooting your energy. Until then, clear your mind of all the emotional residue it’s gathered. At the May 27th Sagittarius full moon, your soul sends out an S.O.S. for self-care. Pamper the heck out of yourself, Virgo.
