MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
February makes you a force to be reckoned with, and you might not be home much for the first three weeks. The Sun is in Aquarius, your communicative third house, until February 19th. It’s a time of lively conversations, brainstorms, and powerful alliances. Like a politician on the campaign trail, you’re clear and determined, ready to shake hands and deliver a compelling pitch wherever you go. Something has you all fired up, so spread the word through writing, meetings or even a Twitter firestorm. With social Venus in Aries, your passionate fifth house, a compelling conversation might even spark a romantic attraction. The way to a Sagittarian’s heart is through the ears, and you could fall hard for someone whose wit and wisdom make you want to talk all night. Expect many “meetings of the minds” in February. After the 7th, you’ll want to choose your company selectively. Maturity-planet Saturn is retrograde (backward) until June 25th in your group activity house. You may need to scale back your socializing a bit.
Major change comes to your personal and domestic life on the 3rd, when healing Neptune begins a 14-year trip through Pisces, your fourth house of home, family and femininity. Neptune was here briefly from April-August 2011, but it now settles in for the long haul, bringing its restorative touch to the more private spheres of your life. Sagittarius, your sign tends to be a bit masculine, even tomboyish. Even if you’re a girlie-girl on the outside, you’re still a go-getter who rarely sits still and waits for things to happen. Neptune’s visit will teach you the power of divine timing. Sometimes, in your push for a result, you can block an even bigger opportunity. Now, you’ll learn to stay dynamically poised in your center, attracting greatness, rather than chasing it. Neptune could bring a move, a pregnancy, shifts in your family dynamics, or an important female friendship. This trend kicks in even more this month when the Sun moves into Pisces on February 19th. On the 21st, the Pisces new moon is joined by Mercury and Neptune, making you highly intuitive or even downright psychic. Because Mercury is the messenger, you could receive a call or news from an important woman that changes the course of events. A pregnancy or a move is possible in the next six months as a result of this new moon. Your relationship with your mother, children or a close female relative could go through a healing evolution.
LOVE & ROMANCE:
The vibe of this month is social and family-oriented, but that doesn’t rule out romance. On February 7th, love-planet Venus stars a month-long visit to Aries, your passionate and glamorous fifth house. This year, Valentine’s Day could actually deliver a sexy, spicy date night with all the trappings. You’re not the conventional red-rose-and-Godiva type (not that you’d turn them down), but you love living life to the fullest. This is a great month for one of those non-stop dates that starts at a sultry wine bar for oyster happy hour, proceeds to an Ethiopian or French restaurant, moves to a hot dessert spot and ends with hours on the dance floor at a feel-good club or lounge. When was the last time you had a night like that, Sag?
You might want to book that Valentine’s Day blowout a week early, since February 7th also features a Leo full moon. Leo rules your inspired and adventurous ninth house (the part of the zodiac wheel that’s naturally ruled by Sag). Translation: you’ll be in your element, upbeat and ready for the world. If you’re single, this is a fabulous night to get out for a round of speed dating or to a fun event that’s packed with other unattached and interesting people. Friends could play Cupid this month, or you could meet someone special through mutual acquaintances. Don’t stay in just on Valentine’s Day if you’re date-free—head out to as many fun but hype-free parties as you can and flirt up a storm.
Coupled Sags will want to make an overall effort to add more glamour, joy and spontaneity to your life, especially if it’s become too routine or work-focused. Physical activity, like a high-intensity dance or exercise class can also keep your spirits high this month and get you back in a romantic mood.
Meantime, you might also examine your relationship with your dad, and its effect on your love life. Intense Mars is retrograde in your tenth house of fathers and important men from January 23-April 13. There may be old anger, frustration or tension around this primary relationship. If so, this is a good time to unpack that and clear the air so the upset doesn’t permeate your closest relationships.
MONEY & CAREER:
Pass out those business cards and book those coffee dates. The Sun is in Aquarius, your third house of communication, until February 19th. This is an excellent time for meetings, sales pitches, proposals and exploring new ideas. Your mind is hungry for new information, so catch up on reading, or even invest in an e-reader so you can keep up on your favorite magazines and the latest book releases. At the February 7th Leo full moon, an entrepreneurial or visionary project could come together. This could be an incredibly lucky day for you, Sag. You could have an opportunity to travel, teach, or take an inspiring class. Publishing is highlighted, and you could see your name in print (or pixels); you might even decide to launch a blog or podcast. The Aquarius Sun gives you a way with words now, so express yourself!
Go-getter Mars has been firing up your tenth house of career since last November (11-11-11, to be exact), turning work fast-paced but intense. You’ve been on a roll to make your professional mark since then. However, Mars has slowed down to retrograde motion from January 23-April 13, you need to pace yourself now. Be mindful not to put too many irons in the fire for the next couple months. Instead of barreling ahead, take time to do the important foundational work, to make sure you’re really set up with the proper plan for long-term success. Do some soul-searching if need be: is all the stress and sweat equity you’re putting in going to pay off? It’s wonderful to make your mark in life, but you’re just a mere mortal, Sag, and you need rest and play.
With Mars retrograde, you could reach overload or burnout. Pressure around a project could test your limits, and a boss or demanding client could push your buttons. You’ve got a much shorter fuse during this cycle, so watch your temper at work. If you’re having anger issues, check: have you bitten off more than you can chew? You may need to evaluate where paying dues leaves off and wasting time begins. Or, as the saying goes, where you need to “work smarter, not harder.” With lucky Jupiter in your sixth house of efficiency until June, this is the time to create streamlined systems and above all, to delegate. If you’re going to build an empire, you can’t be the bricklayer, carpenter and the interior designer (even though you’d probably enjoy doing those jobs).
Another reason to be choosy about opportunities? Structured Saturn is retrograde from February 7-June 25 in Libra, your eleventh house of groups and technology. This could cause setbacks or slowdowns, especially in collaborations. If a team project has been loosey-goosey, you may need to define clear roles and expectations. Choose your allies with care and maturity. Yeah, it might be fun to snark about a coworker with the office gossip, but it won’t score you points with the powers that be, and it could even get you into trouble. Retrogrades can also turn our attention back to the past, so you may reunite with an old mentor or boss during this time. You’ve grown up a lot since the last time you worked together.
