Sagittarius

November 22 through December 21
November 2011

MONTHLY OVERVIEW:
Get ready for some action! Although the Sun is in Scorpio, your restful twelfth house, until November 22, you probably won’t get the sleep you’re craving now. November is packed with some serious action from start to finish. On the 2nd, communicator Mercury and beautifying Venus enter Sagittarius, tripling your powers of persuasion. November 10 supersizes your success, thanks to a productive Taurus full moon. The same day, energizer Mars also enters Virgo, your career house, staying until July. Mars normally visits a sign for just six weeks, so to have it in Virgo for eight months is a rare window of opportunity. While work can get stressful and demanding at times (breaks? what are those?), the more you stay in action, the more you’ll achieve. Fame, leadership, and public recognition for your work are all likely during this cycle.

Ready to break out of the box big-time? The Sagittarius solar eclipse at the November 25 new moon jettisons you out of your comfort zone, especially if you’ve been playing small. In the coming six months, you could entirely revamp your image, trying out a whole new head-turning look. Eclipses wipe away any gray area and force us to get crystal-clear about our intentions. There’s no denying where you stand on a matter, and your closest relationships will shift as a result of your new no-nonsense approach. Good for you, Sag. Your old non-committal style is rapidly falling by the wayside. You’re on a mission, and you’ve got no time for flakiness!

Of course, a little diplomacy goes far, especially since Mercury will be retrograde (backward) in Sagittarius from November 23-December 13. Even though the eclipse could nudge you into the limelight, you’ll want to choose your words (and outfits) carefully, as Mercury retrograde could cause your message to be lost in translation. That plunging neckline? Not for the office holiday party. Penned a racy, raunchy toast for your birthday party? Maaaybe you should skip it this year. Heads-up: Mercury retrograde, which happens three times a year, is also notorious for data and electronic breakdowns. Be sure to back up your files, photo albums, and other precious archives for safekeeping.

LOVE & ROMANCE:
Awaken, sleeping beauty. Love planet Venus spends the lion’s share of November in Sagittarius, shaking your mojo out of its dialed-down haze. You’re in the mood to gussy up, flirt, and feel gorgeous. The November 10tTaurus full moon in your healthy sixth house boosts your glow, helping you create exercise and eating habits from a self-loving place. Suddenly, you’re in the mood to do your hair and makeup and to spend time lingering over pleasant conversation or a glass of wine—no matter how busy you are. Take time to refill your pleasure tank, Sag, because it’s gotten pretty dry! Whether you’re single or partnered, the more TLC you lavish on yourself, the more attractive and in the mood you feel.

Is somebody giving you unclear signals? Are you caught in a bad romance…or just a codependent dynamic? While the Sun is in Scorpio through November 23, you may need to gain closure or to deal with someone’s flakiness. Sags are givers, but your generosity can also be a detriment. You can’t shoulder the whole load alone, Sagittarius, unless you’d like a one-way ticket to burnout. The first three weeks of the month will point out where proper support is needed in your life. At the Sagittarius solar eclipse on November 25, it’s time to draw a line in the sand. If someone can’t step up, you need to make clear boundaries and stick to them. Some Sags may decide to part ways or perhaps do a trial separation. Chances are, you just need more “me time”—or to create a relationship where you don’t feel like you’re losing yourself.

Wondering how you ended up with such a compulsive need to be in the driver’s seat? Paging Dr. Freud: it’s time to deal with your daddy issues. We all have ‘em, Sag, and it turns out that your number is up. On November 10, Mars, planet of action and stress, begins an eight-month visit to Virgo, your tenth house of fathers and important men. Whatever you learned from your dad’s example is now especially tied into your relationship patterns. Do a little free-writing on this to explore. If your dad wasn’t around, perhaps you have the subconscious sense that you can’t rely on anyone but yourself. Maybe your pops pushed you into overachieving, and now you’re a workaholic who always has to wear the metaphorical pants. Or, if you butted heads with your dad, you might be playing out this contentious dynamic in your interactions with men.

Mars is the warrior planet, and it’s linked to anger. If you have some residual rage toward a man in your life, this month is good for getting it out of your system. It doesn’t mean you have to confront him directly—although if you’ve been playing the doormat, you’ll want to speak up. But if a situation is unfair, you’ll find the courage to say so. The tenth house also rules long-term goals, and with Mars here, you’re feeling pressured to meet some life deadlines. You, the zodiac’s bachelor(ette), could suddenly be the one worried about when you’ll get the ring, the kid, the retirement plan, or whatever milestone you want to meet. Take it easy if you find yourself slipping into strong-arm mode. Nothing in life is worth getting THAT worked up about—even though Mars is making you feel that way.

MONEY & CAREER:
November is a golden month for your career in many ways. Yes you’re still burning the candle at both ends for the rest of the year, thanks to your ruler Jupiter in low-power retrograde (until Christmas). And yeah, you have unfinished business to handle while the Sun tours Scorpio through November 23. Still, even that can’t stem the tide of new opportunities coming your way all month long.

Early November is perfect for rubbing elbows, trading biz tips over drinks, and sharing your ideas with the world. Communicator Mercury and social Venus are both in Sagittarius from the 2nd onward, making you quite the It girl or guy. Schedule a launch party or dress up and hit that industry event, as you could forge a key connection. If you’re a writer, use the rest of the year to launch a blog or work on that book proposal, since Mercury is here until January 8.

The Taurus full moon on November 10 helps you get organized. This full moon will highlight your support team—a critical piece of your life since this summer has had its ups and downs. While you may bid adieu to a slacking worker or service provider, this full moon’s proximity to lucky Jupiter (your ruler) skews positive. Take time to appreciate the wonderful people who have toiled on Team Sagittarius: an early holiday gift, a long card filled with handwritten praise, a day at the spa. If you’ve been struggling to find the perfect support person, the Taurus full moon could deliver. Jupiter also rules long-distance affairs, so you may decide to outsource work to a virtual assistant or to take on some extra “busy work” yourself for extra cash. You could spend a good amount of time organizing and upgrading your systems at this full moon, too—a must at this point in your life.

Lights, camera, action: on November 10, go-getter Mars starts a superlong eight-month visit to Virgo, your tenth house of career, fame, and success. Between now and next summer, set your sights on that brass ring. No limits, Sag! This is a rare cycle, and while the pace might be manic at times, the results will be worth it. All the more reason to have a fabulous support team locked down. Your career could take a high-profile turn between now and next summer, so prepare for added responsibilities and even a fancy new title. While you’ll definitely need more structures to manage it all, you’ve been getting used to a tighter timeline since the summer. Your spontaneous side might not dig this regimented style, but if you’re going to take over the world, this kind of order and precision will be an essential skill.

HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
Although it will be hard to find the downtime during this crazy month, taking breaks is a must. The Sun is in Scorpio, your healing twelfth house, until the 23rd. You can expect to be a little more tired during this time, as it’s the annual rest period before your birthday. The key is to say “no” to the energy vampires and “yes” to people who can help you reach your goals. It seems some folks have gotten too used to you being the giving tree, and they need to be cut off. The babying bar is closed, people, and so is the all-you-can-eat enabler’s buffet. On November 9, dreamy Neptune also goes direct (forward) in your house of siblings, friends, and communication. Supportive people and clearer signals make a comeback, thank goodness. It’s gotten a little lonely at times since Neptune went retrograde in August, and you need a friend you can count on.

On November 10, the Taurus full moon beams into your sixth house of health and fitness. Take stock of your habits and change the ones that aren’t boosting your vitality. Where do you need support? How can you carve out at least thirty minutes a day for exercise? As Herculean as that might sound, know that each time you work out, miracles will occur, and things will resolve themselves on their own. Heck, some slackers might even step up to the plate when they know Big Mama or Papa’s not around.

The Sagittarius solar eclipse on November 25th helps you become more confident, outspoken, and self-directed. However, you may overshoot the mark with your assertiveness while Mercury is retrograde November 23-December 13. Make sure you’re not coming off as demanding, high-maintenance, or whiny. You may need to take a few do-overs with people if you accidentally offend them. Don’t make Thanksgiving an “open mouth, insert turkey drumstick” holiday. Think before you speak!
