The holidays are over, but why stop the celebration now? Your chart is filled with social energy for the first three weeks of January, while the Sun visits Capricorn, your outgoing eleventh house. Team projects and group activity keeps you motivated. Collaborations are great for the whole first half of the year, while expansive Jupiter visits Taurus, your third house of communication and kindred spirits. Get involved in your community, perhaps with an activist project. Writing, teaching and taking classes keeps your active mind stimulated during this intellectual cycle. However, a word of caution: don’t make a collaboration TOO official if you’re not 100 percent sure it’s right. Energizer Mars is retrograde (backward) in your partnership house from January 23-April 13, a time when your closest ties can be tainted by tension. Don’t let someone strong-arm you into doing things solely on his/her terms. If you’re signing a deal, invest in a top-of-the-line lawyer to aggressively protect your rights. Romantically, you may have second thoughts about your partner, or perhaps you’ve held back something that’s been angering you for a while. During Mars retrograde, you need to clear the air and resolve this lingering tension. There’s no more sweeping it under the rug, and denial will only make you ragingly passive-aggressive. Ugh! Might as well “man (or woman) up” and be direct.
That said, there’s plenty of romance in this month’s stars. The January 9th Cancer full moon is in your passionate fifth house, bringing a flush to your cheeks and making your heart go pitter-patter. And love-planet Venus is in Pisces from January 14-February 7, a great time to improve your relationship or make strides toward meeting someone special.
When the Sun moves into Aquarius on January 20th, you can get swept off to fantasy-land—or, you might just need a good nap. Aquarius rules your twelfth house of healing and closure, so use the next month to settle your unfinished affairs before your birthday. Tie up those loose ends in time for your solar calendar to reset when the Sun enters Pisces on February 19th. Your ruler Neptune will also start a 14-year sojourn through Pisces on February 3rd, so clear the decks and get ready for an exciting new chapter.
LOVE & ROMANCE:
Get out and about, Pisces. If you’re single, you could meet someone through an event or mutual friends during the first three weeks of January. Where to look? For the first half of the month, romantic Venus is in Aquarius, your spiritual and creative twelfth house. Your beloved could be in a yoga class, a metaphysical bookstore, at a wine-tasting event or even on the dance floor. If you’re in a relationship, make an effort to be more social with your sweetie, and to connect through new activities.
The January 9th Cancer full moon cranks up the volume on your emotions. Cancer rules your passionate fifth house, which means both your libido and your temper can both flare up near this date. Emotions that have been building since the Cancer new moon in July 2011 can reach critical mass, and a love connection could consummate. You’re feeling especially bold and brassy at this full moon. Hoping to expand your family? The fifth house rules fertility, so a pregnancy is possible at the Cancer full moon. If at first you don’t conceive, try, try again…or wait until this summer. In June, lucky Jupiter will visit your motherhood house for a year, a cycle when many Pisces will be sporting a “bump”—or perhaps welcoming grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Set the date for Valentine’s Day back a month, and welcome some winter romance into your life. On January 14th, Venus moves into Pisces, sparking up your mojo even more. If you haven’t felt very lovey-dovey, you’ll get the urge to dress up and bring sexy back between now and February 7th. Don’t wait around for someone else to give you special treatment—be your own pleasure provider. Do nice things that make you feel sparkly, pampered and adored. As a sensual Pisces, you surely have a long list of ideas for that.
Relationships have barreled ahead for many Pisces ever since energizer Mars entered Virgo, your commitment sign in November. You may have felt some serious pressure over the holidays to meet someone, get the ring, or to spend quality time with your partner. Mars is in Virgo until July 3rd. You’re waking up to what you want, and you’re not willing to settle. Good for you, Pisces. However, you can also be a little impatient now. It’s a balancing act between wasting your time on a dead-end match and giving someone a fair shake. Not everyone brings their A-game to the first date, but by the third or fourth, that bumbling, sweaty-palmed sweetheart might relax and turn out to be a true gem (and even a great lover).
From January 23-April 13, Mars will slow down to retrograde (backward) motion. Coupled Pisces might use this time to reevaluate, or even to pull back if you’ve jumped too quickly into a commitment. Mars brings passion, but it’s also the warrior, so there may be extra tension and fighting during this cycle. You might need more personal space, as Mars retrograde could make you feel like your partner is breathing down your neck. If someone is being disrespectful to you, stand up for yourself, and even be willing to walk. Sometimes, drawing that line in the send can wake up someone who’s taking you for granted.
MONEY & CAREER:
It’s all about who you know, and 2012 could start with a flurry of networking opportunities and industry events. You might consider hosting one yourself, especially if there’s a fundraising or charitable aspect to it. The Sun is in Capricorn, your group-oriented eleventh house, through January 20th. Communicator Mercury is also here January 8-27, making you extra savvy, social and articulate. With charming Venus in Pisces from the 14th on, that second week of the month should be booked with opportunities to schmooze and make connections.
Of course, you can do this virtually, too. Both Mercury and the eleventh house are associated with technology. Spread your message through a blog, website or even your own YouTube channel. Jupiter (ruler of publishing) is in Taurus, your third house of writing, until June 11th. Pen a memoir, start a website or publish an e-book. Hate writing but eager to learn? Put on your student’s cap and attend classes or teleseminars. If you’re a business owner, dedicate the first half of 2012 to becoming a social media virtuoso (hello, Twitter followers!), and even mastering the ins and outs of Google Analytics or basic WordPress blogging. Funny as it sounds, this is also a good time to build your vocabulary, even with a “word of the day” calendar or app.
Be mindful with whom you join forces while Mars is retrograde (backward) in your interpersonal seventh house from January 23-April 13. Business partnerships can be tense during this cycle, and your interactions with colleagues may not be so harmonious. Someone you work closely with could become aggressive or competitive. Perhaps you feel like a boss or employee isn’t giving you due respect. It’s time to stop playing the martyr, Pisces, and to set clear boundaries about what you will and won’t put up with.
The seventh house rules contracts and agents, and you may be feeling pressured to ink a deal. Go slow with any collaboration this winter. Next month, your ruling planet Neptune will enter Pisces for a whopping 14 years. You’ll blossom into your full compassionate power then, and world will value the softer Piscean touch, too. If you don’t feel your strongest, or if you’re considering a career move out of desperation and unhappiness, don’t do it. You’re worth the wait, Pisces, and you need a situation that affirms and empowers you.
Watch your back near the January 23rd Aquarius new moon, and during the last week of the month. Someone may show some unattractive true colors. Put yourself on a no-gossip diet during this cycle, and avoid the negative folks at the office. Beware the “crabs in a barrel” at your job, too. Misery loves company, but you’ve got too much going for you to allow others to pull you down into their darkness.
HEALTH: MIND, BODY & SOUL:
Indulge in a retreat at any point this month, Pisces. Beautifying Venus is in Aquarius, your healing twelfth house, until January 14th. It’s a great time to visit the spa, find a favorite yoga class, or to make regular massages part of your 2012 resolutions. On January 20th, the Sun enters Aquarius for a month, an important time to heal your mind, body and soul.
Strong emotions could come out near the January 9th Cancer full moon, and you may be angry, frustrated or fed up. There’s something you’ve wanted to express in the last six months, and you can’t hold back any longer. This is an important day to honor your needs and desires. Feeling out of touch with those? The Aquarius new moon on January 23rd is also a great time to listen to your spirit and intuition. The end of January is your time to explore “the other side.” Hey, if it puts peace in your heart and you work with a trusted channeler, why not?
