U.S. researchers recently discovered the ingredients in chocolate rev up your metabolism.
They also found that chocolate eaters are generally slimmer than those who shun it.
‘This is good news for those who have a chocolate habit and those who wish to start one,’ says study author Dr Beatrice Golomb, from the University of California.
‘I tell all my clients to eat chocolate every week even the models,’ says trainer James Duigan, who keeps Elle Macpherson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in shape.
‘If you generally eat a healthy balanced diet, having an indulgent treat will help you stay even trimmer. That’s because a sudden and unexpected surge of fat, sugar and calories will shock your metabolism into working harder to burn it off. If you try to be good all the time and deprive yourself, you’re more likely to become frustrated and fall off the healthy eating wagon. My cheat meal is a hot chocolate pudding with ice cream, which I have every week!’
