Britney Spears has become the first person to break the 5 million followers barrier on Twitter, less than a week after passing Ashton Kutcher to become the social networking site’s most popular account user.

The star celebrated becoming No. 1 earlier this week by taking fan questions, revealing that her favorite of her own songs is “Toxic,” her desert island necessities are her “boots, water and my CD collection,” and she’d love to duet with British singer Robbie Williams.

As of Saturday afternoon, Britney had 5,015,346 followers, with Ashton trailing at 4,982,734. Ashton does his own Tweeting, while Britney’s account is a mix of the star’s posts and ones from her team and management.
